Journalism Portfolio and Blog
About me
I wanted to be a writer since my 4th grade teacher told me I could. Since then, I have searched for stories to tell.
I graduated in 2022 from Lamar University with my B.S. in Communication Journalism.
In addition to my coursework, I wrote for the University Press, the student paper, and contributed weekly stories about campus news, editorials, sports and opinion articles. After two semesters as a contributing writer, I was selected to be the paper's managing editor, a position I held for the next two semesters. As managing editor, I worked with student staff to design the weekly print and online editions layouts, selected each issues' stories and helped student writers develop their story ideas and edit their work.
I anchored for the student-ran public access news station, LUTV News. As a lead anchor, I reported university and local Southeast Texas news packages, conducted interviews with students and staff about campus news and current events, and led panel discussions with other student reporters in a weekly show.
I currently live in Austin with my cat, Bear. I like to read novels, cook vegan food and watch horror movies. I currently work as an assistant editor/research analyst for a consulting firm where I write two weekly industry newsletters and do research for our clients.
I’m interested in opportunities that allow me to be curious, in depth, and human focused.
